so i ride up to in n out drive thru the other night and order up my grilled cheese...a couple guys approach me.

    guy #1 "a 600, i told you"

    guy #2 "yea, nice"

guy #1 to me "hey man, how come you dont have the whole protection on there"

    me "huh?"

guy #1 "you know, all the cage here, not just this little bit here" pointing at my frame sliders and gesturing down low around the fairing.

me "cause i am not one of those gay stunt idiots, i like to turn the bike"

guy #1 "but yea, dont you want to protect everything?"

me "that stuff weighs a lot, and i dont plan on dropping my bike, that stuff is for the idiots that plan on dropping their bikes"

hopefully you converted them like they were heathens. Now maybe they will see the light and not be homosexuals.

Got a guy in my Guard unit that rides a Ninja. He lives in Sacramento area and those "Rough Rider" idiots keep trying to recruit him. I'm trying to keep him on the this side of the fence but the Force is strong with the "Rough Riders".

the funny thing w/ stunters is that they don't effect me. Some of ya'll get yer panties in a bunch about 'em. They're a non issue up here. I can appricate a good wheelie or two, who can't?! They're great. Just don't do it in traffic. Jimmie and a couple old timers can remember that back in the day, it was the harley rider who ruled the street, the ones riding on the fringe of society, riding crazy causin trouble. Now, its the same guys, but their kids are riding jap bikes and doing wheelies!

As for the cages...its pretty ingenious, no more cracked cases.

    Oh well.

I just blow by em w/ my knee on the deck in the corners...

The front wheel in the air can be a blast,at the right time and place. But I see stunt fools as those who have a similar intrest as mine but have some how mutated it in to some thing foolish and ill advised.

Look at it like this , I love pit bulls because they are great dogs ,easy to train with an inbred love of people.

I look at stunters with similar distane as those who love pits because "they are great fighters,<YO IS THAT A RED NOSE, DOES HE FIGHT?>"

I look at both and think dam you started with some thing cool and some how have missed the point entierly??!!!! Now some thing which in the raw was cool as hell now looks like a monkey screwing a football.

I would gladly coexist with them but wish they would 1 stay on private property,2 put some fucking gear on, ya dumb ass.

(secretly I am glad they wear no gear, natural selection don't ya know.)

Pretty much a non-issue here in Sonoma County too. I think they are more prevalent in larger metropolitan areas, like the immediate Bay Area and Sacramento. Regardless, imo, they're as bad an image for motorcycling as the 1%'ers, but I doubt they'll get my panties in a bunch. It's hard to bunch up a thong...

Speaking of 1%'ers...my uncle is a true Eighty-one in the Sac chapter, been for 15 years or so. Nicest guy you'll know...oh and I'm family, so If i'm riding w/ him and he's flying his colors (which he must if he's on two wheels) i'm safe. He rides w/ the Devils Horsemen, affiliates of eighty-one. He told me its where HA goes to retire. I laughed. Get this, he used to run the security for the Redwood run until about 5 years ago, he told us "Charles, i'm too old to be baby sitting dumb motherfuckers who just wanna do drugs and sit there like bumps on logs." Surprised me, coming from a clean and always sober 1%'er.

At one point in my life I was leaning towards being one of the outlaw type of bkers. A lot of my biker friends were also going that way. I had some HA friends and some Gypsy Jokers friends. In the 60's when I was starting out on two wheels all motorcycle riders were looked down upon.
Movies like the Wild Bunch didn't help our image. Both my parents were in Holister when the bikers over ran the town. They both told me that it was all hipe, no bikers really over ran the town, it was the media that started the false statements of them doing that. Like that picture that was in LIFE magazine of the guy on the bike with empty beer bottles all around him was staged. He really didn't drink all that beer. I figured out real quick that something had to change, something to HELP our image.
HONDA started the image change. When they brought out their cute little 50's people started to change there opinions about motorcycles.
I have been trying my whole life to clean up our image. So when I see the new wave of riders that aren't helping at all it angers me deeply. Not just the Stunters either, but any and all the new riders passing cars wildly with very loud exhaust, cutting cars off, passing to close, and total disrespect for any other vehicles on the road. I still will wait in a line of traffic to make a clean and safe pass, because I have respect for the other people on the road. So I guess I am saying it's not all the STUNTERS that I dislike, some that do there thing off the roadways are ok. Some have some real talent. It's any motorcycle rider that acts like a total jerk that I hate. I always think about our image, and what my actions will look like to my fellow drivers/riders on the roads. I feel I am an ambassador for the motorcycling community, and ride accordingly. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out what needs to be done to change our image. Just ride smart, be aware of your actions. But it seems to be a losing battle lately. Oh well, all I can do is to keep doing what I have been for 42 years of street riding.

Yep, I'm with you Jimmie- I do feel like we are ambassadors...I have run people off that I feel don't have respect for others and refuse to ride with some after riding with them once.

don't get me wrong, I pass on double yellows, but I do not harrass drivers that are in front of me like I have seen some people do. When I come up on drivers. I will make sure they see me and most of the time, I will signal when I am going to be "bad" and pass. Yes, I have been known to raise my saluting finger to those drivers that pass 12 turnouts while going along at a blazing 40mph in front of me and 15 cars, and I am sure all the other cage drivers behind me appreciate that familiar gesture also. However, if I do pass on the double yellow, I always make sure that it would not endanger THE OTHER DRIVER or I don't do it. I rode with a guy that passed on BLIND turns one of my first times out on the FZ and FREAKED on him when we stopped to get some gas. :x There arne't a lot of things that truly annoy me, but acting like a punk while riding is one of them.

We don't want that kind of reputation or THEY all will start picking on US as a group. We don't want more laws, higher fines or them to confiscate our bikes if we go over 100MPH...As long as we remain relatively "harmless" to our fellow drivers, our own rights will be protected. 8)

STUPID FUCKING STUNTERS. Sorry, I know a couple of them and they are truly inconciderate idiots. Since I only know two and they are both that way, I suppose if I owned a car and the majority of sport bike riders passed me on blind turns and did wheelies right behind my car doing 60 mph, I might think we were a bunch of assholes too and I just might vote for a law that says they can't abuse me on the roads without severe penalty.

My life would be easier if I didn't always speak my mind....
