Default knee jerk reaction to lock thread?

Why was the other thread locked? Was I being disrespectful? Or was it locked because of my association with NBSR? Getting no where? In whose mind?

Rebecca... I made no assumptions about this site/group, or I wouldn't have participated occasionally from time to time. I did not imply you are having problems... Maybe I did, as I am not bothering to re-read everything I posted in that thread. If I did, my apologies. I only pitched in what I know in response to Porkchop and MKP's out-loud wondering of "meeting or no meeting, rules or no rules". The only other possible offender is "rules are something looked down upon"... Come on, now, that's one of the most touted reasons, by the Hooligans, as to why this exists here.

Otherwise, I agree with you and Jimmie -- in one ear, out another for the new guys. You guys seem to continue to think the rules are there to protect the new guys... Try to see it from a different angle. The safety meeting and rules are meant to protect you from their lack of better judgement.

Anyhow... I didn't intend to post more on this topic, and don't plan to anymore. I just wanted to publicly acknowledge you and Jimmie's responses. 8)

Feel free to lock this, 23109.

You know what? Fuck this horse shit.

Granted, we didn't get off on the right foot, and I offended you and Mike in the past. I apologized and tried to make amends. I was only participating in a forum discussion to the best of my intentions while being careful with my words. If you don't want my two cents, maybe you should have posted that topic in a private/mod forum.

The tables turned? Dont get all butt hurt. I'm not really picking on you, but maybe you should have delved a little deeper as to why we started this thread. Maybe ask some questions. Unfortunately the reason wasn't really explained, and some of the comments made led you down the wrong path since you wern't there.
We hade a short meeting before our ride (keep it clean, keep it safe kinda stuff), and all seemed to be cool.
We had young guy that took it apon him self to jump up towards the front and proceded to do some stupid shit Russian Roulette passes. Totally brainless. No one said anything to him, we just distanced ourselves for the rest of the ride. Most of us know in that situation what Jimmie said is true. Is it my job to tell someone how they should ride? No, but we deffinitely need to make ourselves more clear about squidly behivior if someone wants to ride with us.
Oh ya, and the Hooligan thing was kind of a joke about all the assumptions made regarding our riding practices.
    No Hooligan deffinition required.

Tom, contrary to others...I don't think you are trying to start shit, but unfortunately your comments came across as being arrogant and even condencending. You need to realize that some of our riders have been doing group rides since the 70's. That we as a group, have a much higher skill set than the average group ride. You're not telling us anything that we don't already know. ...some guys come off kind of cocky and ignorant (Randall ) but he's just messing around, trust me, he knows the score.
In the future...if you actually joined us on a group ride I think people would be more willing to listen to what you have to say .
    no regrets

Well, if Ray is to play the age card ahead of reality, I guess he hasn't done much group riding since the 70's, maybe. Or that Fro-whatever guy... Gee, a fucking heart warmer to ride with. 23019 obviously is putting his group riding exepriece from the 70's to good use too.

Never questioned your group of higher than average skill set. I was actually lending support to your and Porkchop's "I don't really want to do this, but maybe we have to." I was under the impression that you will continue to host open rides where that could bring down the group's overall average skill set? To manage the risks when new ones with unknown riding skill are added to your group? If so, I doubt the group average is going to stay up much longer.

Whatever. No love lost. Carry on.
