Default Oh wise terry_ how much to start the rear ride height....

Oh terry soothsayer I have been giving a broad instruction on rear ride height. I was told to start from 2mm to 5mm additional height. Should I start with the 5mm?

: Start with 2mm. If you find you need more; go to 5mm.

but how will I know if I need more? what should I look for. I thought the theory is give it all the rear ride height you can until you start having rear grip issues or head shake......

You will know when you have no head shake and rear grip is still good. Then change up to 5mm. This is a completely new ride for you. Get to know it before big changes. You may like it with no rear ride height changes.

Test & adjust & test, repeat until champion.

TERRY how come you said to raise his 2mm but we raised mine 2"?? AHH!!! i need more front end raise IN CONJUNCTION with rear end raise. Jacking up the rear just scared the crap outta me. my poor bike just dove in. I got a better geometry change with the perilli superbike slicks...

the R1 geometry and weight bias (51 to front) from what I understand does not need a ton of rear height/geometry change.

how accessable is rear ride height adjustment?? mine is BURRIED. That thing is basically a race bike with lights so i'm hoping yamaha engineered it for quick adjustments.

where TF does a shim go in a rear suspension set up? sounds like work. It doesn't have rear ride height independant of pre-load or anything? Because my touring bike has it... :-P

most rice rockets stock suspension does not have ride height adjustments. shims take about 5 mins to drop in. At least on the old GXXR

with madrone around it takes me NO MINUTES to put shims in :)

    thanks madrone
