    Default New project

So I'm thinking about putting some money aside to start building my dream trackbike. A heavily modified kx500. Obviously it will need extensive amounts of goodies to make it pavement friendly. Race slicks on 17's front and rear. Maybe a street bike front fork assembly with lowered rear suspension. Would even be fun in the rain

Didn't Rich Oliver race AFM with a slicked out KX500 many years ago?
A friend of mine from Modesto did that with a CR500.

I saw a CR500 roadracer that used a 650 Hawk chassis once, It was sweet.

Yep the cr's and kx's battled for years. Cr had a shorter wheelbase and better suspension for tight motocross tracks while the longer, more powerful kx's had the higher top speed and stability that gave them the advantage on larger flowing outdoor tracks and allowed them to dominate the baja for like 10 years straight. I used to flat track the he'll out of my kx's. I could leave a continuous "stripe"( the equivalent to a darkie but on dirt) for 400-500 yards at a time going up iron peak rd.
I'm thinking steering stabilizer, and a 44 tooth sprocket should make it comfy for well over a hundred on the straights. Maybe a big brake kit. Shave the seat down. Lowered. Frame sliders and pro-tapers with bark busters for minimal crash damage. Throw a fresh piston and rings in it with a boysen rad valve and fmf fatty pipe. Modified front fender. I had a blast on my CRF 450 at Laguna seca with almost no setup at all and actually passed a few sportbikes in the corners. I think topped out it only did about 70 with the stock gearing.

I think I'm going to start to put money aside to go to the Colin Edwards school......
Most of the time if you re-read my post with a sideways grin, it makes more sense! If it doesn't make sense, then
