I just rode this last weekend, and it was lots of fun. I thought I would share.

So this year the ride was based out of Garberville for both days, compared to riding to a location, staying and then returning to start point.

I will admit that in the beginning, I was a bit disappointed with this year. It was 80% pavement, 20% dirt/forest roads. I really wanted more dirt and single track. This year it was more like a street bike ride with some dirt roads. But after getting the map of the routes, i was looking forward to the ride. There were a couple of roads that have been on my "to ride" list that have eluded me over the past couple of years. So that was a welcome substitute for the lack of dirt and turned out to be great.

The route was filled with great back roads that left me craving my supermoto wheels with some good street rubber on them. But, suprisingly I had descent grip with my knobies in the wet. We were able to keep a spirited pace on the pavement and have a blast. Most of the roads out of garberville are a bit goaty by sportbike standards, but easy and fun on the dirt bike or adventure bike. It was awesome at times, and some stretches equal HWY 36 in there fun factor and twisties. Many of the roads connect to HWY 36. The first road that was new was Wildwood road, off 36 and goes to hayfork. THe roads between Hayfork and Hayapom are also pretty good and worth the detour. US forest road #1 also had incredible scenery and was fun to ride. Their are so many good side roads off HWY36, you now need 2 days to ride it with all the detours. I just really wished I had some good tire for the 17's, then i could've really picked it up on the pavement. next year if the route is similar, it's 17's for sure, hell maybe even the KTM, I'll just be a turtle in the dirt.
