Default NCSR Where have all the People Gone

I have been here awhile now, seen the site grow and been a part of helping Mellow grow the site.

I have seen a huge decline in even the regulars doing a now show.

What do you suppose the issue is?

Do you have suggestions on bringing the spirit and new blood into the site?

Are you just tired of Forums?

    Just not really motivated?

These are in a poll as well, So feel free to speak, I am very interested as I have my own ideas seeing this trend on other sites as well. I will share those later.

There are quite a few reasons for the slow, steady dying of NCSR. I think the biggest factor is the lack of street riding. When we all use to meet up and do a ride with 4-15 bikes there would be a thread that followed that would go on for pages and pages. Alot of people just cant afford the wear parts to keep their bikes on the road. (tires, brakes, crash repair, ect) Alot of people have resorted to track riding also. People blame the economy which is partially true. On the other hand my average expense for a sunday ride is about 30 bucks. This includes coffee, fuel and a good lunch. It cost me about 10 times this amount to do the oct 31st trackday!!! SOME people whos name will not be mentioned has spent so much money on his racing career that he no longer rides street. (I've heard rumors that this may change soon). HAHAHAHA I'm just teasing you M3110w. There are some members who are considered the elite of the group and when they cant ride it kills the whole good atmosphere of a group ride.
A few of us have resorted to riding with the scam boys for a good group ride. These are great people and it reminds me of the good ol days when I first started riding with NCSR.
I know Jimmy needs an expensive shock rebuild and tires, Madrone has moved farther north, Skids needs tires, Mellow needs a street legal bike. A few other people have moved away. Terry, Randal, Evan, Skids, and myself have been riding with SCAM.
Alot of the threads that come up on NCSR are just crap!!!! Non moto related, political, bad jokes, and random babbling that doesnt even make sense. Others opinions may vary but I could give a shit less about stuff like this. to SCAM for keeping their forums moto related only.
Until; we all make some more money I'm sure the post count will suffer. I think my first year with NCSR I went through 5 sets of tires in one summer. I'm sure others did also. When we can all afford to do this again the posts will go up.

Danielle is pretty much never on the forums anymore (any of them).
I typically hang out on BARF, although I check NCSR, SCAM, and NBMR on the weekdays.

I can't remember the last time D and I went to Bike Night, and with my new martial arts schedule, it'll be a while before I go again.

Danielle's back injury kept her from riding for the majority of the year.
Now that she's back at work, we may get back into the swing of things, but more likely, it will be next spring before we go on any real rides.

The weekly NBSR Bakery Run died a miserable death a long time ago, even before NBSR itself was assassinated, so that avenue is all but lost.

I think that infusing new blood has become kind of a pain in the ass because of the three different North Bay sites. (Seriously, who wants to keep track of it all?)

I don't know if NCSR has enough people to do the stuff that made NBSR a community- like the annual picnic, or scheduling a night ride or an Iron Butt.
Further, it seems like NCSR is more sport ride oriented than just plain ride oriented. I mean, do Hooligans even know that those various tall reddish-brown blurry things in their peripheral vision are, in fact, "Redwoods"?

Too many family members just died on me, so I've been busy with all of that. Grieving sucks ass.

I'm not interested in reading threads about trackdays. I can't go around in a circle for hours on end and find that entertaining.

Nobody cares about the art side of things and the proof is in the pudding. The comments on the threads aren't enough to keep me believing that folks want to see more, or discuss more about what's been happening.

Everybody looks at the thread and nobody wants to say anything. And that's true with the SCAM stuff too. Doesn't matter what forum it is....nobody wants to communicate anymore.

Bike night has fizzled. Kinda seems like everybody gave up.

    What are your thoughts?

Yes bike nights for this year were zero as opposed to our group ride tally which was twice as much at the startleing figure of 1. That group ride wasnt even a nice cheap street ride. It was a $300+ trackday. Here are my figures for our 1 group ride:
    oct 10th track day $150
    uhaul rental $36
    reschedual fee $30
2nd uhaul rental $60 bigger trailer to haul 2 bikes
fuel for bike/truck $200 and this is being very low on the estimate
    food stops $60 est.
pit hydration $30 including ice for the cooler
for a grand total of $566
Ouch... i cant believe i just figured that out. This is why when people say "oh T-Hill is only $150 this weekend" I don't get all excited. I can ride all sunday on the street for $30-$60 depending on where we eat lunch and how far we go.

    Dana
I think you pretty much summed up what I have been observing across the board. I truly do not believ it is economy. Ithink the trend is more toward the quick blast Social Network systems. Areas get saturated and Forums unless it is something trendy has limits

I am very sorry to hear of your grieving, but grieve Dana it is our body and minds way to heal, I hope you have plenty of people to discuss with. This is a horrible months for me, I lost my Best Mate 3 years ago and my mom 12 years ago Dec 21st. it is very painful yet.

I have been trying to get my site operational it is the worst I have ever seen, I get more spammers logging in then users. But Jimmie also points out its like having to reinvent and type the same crap you been typing. SCAM is NBSR we allknow that story, Its like them Chinese furniture stores, they open up cheap and fast then go out of business only to pen up under a new name same people.

It really boils down to one major factor and this is true on any forum even a site like Thumper Talk. You can have 100k Members, but only 10% are active, and out of that 10%, another 10% are actually there typing in good shit.

Another factor is that NBSR was, and BARF is an exceptionally well established forum.

I didn't hear about NCSR until after NBSR was euthanized. It can take years to develop a forum that has a limited audience.

The other major forum that I am involved with is the CX500 forum, and even that is limited, I am primarily in the turbo part of the forum as a troubleshooter for the new turbo owners who are diagnosing issues.

But John, you have to see that some of this is the economy. I turned on the news a few days back to get the weather.....5 minutes into it, protests, falling stock market, unemployment is up.......whoa!!! I just wanted the weather, I didn't want to hear about the doom and gloom!!!! So, I turned off the tv and went to the accuweather site.

I personally can't fight a televised world of the "sky is falling". On personally stronger days, it was easy to combat all of that, and put on a happy face, find something fun to talk about, keep laughing, try to crack a joke..go for a ride...enjoy the good weather. It's a tendency....find the positive. And when that's harder and harder to find, we all start sliding down into the pit of dispair. You hear the conversations of strangers, and most of it isn't all that happy, or positive. Do you choose to be depressed with them? Do you step out of that bubble and say no way Jose, not on my cloud!!!

Luckily there are some great folks in the world that are always reminding me that life is too short to be this bummed. I have to live and part of living is getting my butt out of work and going for a ride. SCAM reported that 128 has completed it's bridges, and now a fun road thru some great scenery is open!!!

Reguardless of how many forums there are....we all ride. We can post on all three , or just on one. Seems like the message gets around anyway.

Some of it too is the other parts of the community. I missed hearing about the RKA toy run, and would love to see if anybody went and would like to see the photos. I think HD is having a toy run too. Why can't the sportbike community get something like that organized? And if it's too late for this year, why not plan for a better future for our Nor Cal clubs? Pave your own future with good energy, good deeds, good thoughts, and yes there will be pot holes along the way, but hey, it's life!!! We can make it better. Hell, we do everyday, we ride!
